So, rather than state the obvious truth--that ICE in our cities, towns and streets is disrupting --sometimes fatally--American families' ability to perform the essential requirements for life--working, eating, going to school, attendig medical appointments, you suggest we ask them again to follow the law, as if they were unaware that America has laws and a bill of rights. Brilliant. I'm sure they are confused and are really a bunch of nice guys who just want to keep everybody safe. Their already astronomical budget makes it impossible to pressure any compliance, but we can certainly STOP giving their marauding hoardes more money to kill us with.
Please explain how your proposed reforms could possibly pass Congress, be signed by Trump, and then implemented by Kristi Noem.
Since none of these are remotely possible, the only useful strategy for Democrats is to fight to Abolish ICE and get a mandate to deliver on that promise in November.
Otherwise the citizen ICE murders next could be you.
Yes, the best way to end ICE abuse (and a litany of other abuses to our Democracy) is to win back power, fire the fascists, and reform ICE root and branch. And I agree with most of the points of reform offered for ICE. However, at every opportunity we must insist that Democrats not fall into the trap of demanding the dismantling of ICE, as many are now advocating. ICE is like a hammer — it can be used for both useful or destructive purposes. If we as a nation want to limit the hammer's use, then we must pass laws doing so. Until then, we must limit our criticism to insisting that ICE strictly conform to our existing laws.
